Last week we planned it out—this week we’re building it. In this video, I turn a small closet-sized space into a full-functioning wellness room with a sauna, red light therapy, vibration plate, and more. This isn’t some luxury spa build—this is real-world, space-saving, affordable gear that can fit in most homes.
If you’ve ever wondered how to combine sauna, movement, and light therapy into one small space, this is how we’re doing it.

Last week, we did a video for Aaron’s idea to do a biohacking box. It was a whiteboard video. We talked about how you could lay out a small space, a garage to incorporate biohacking techniques, health and wellness equipment, uh, to increase health, longevity, all the things that we all want.
So this week, I think we’re going to actually build one and show you how to do it. So we’re going to walk around. I’m going to pick out some equipment that I think would be a great selection for the biohacking box. And the intention is to have a small little room where you can go in and follow a procedure in order and be able to get your red light therapy, your sauna, maybe a little bit of cardio.
We had a great suggestion from a, uh, a YouTube commenter saying, Hey, can you just put the treadmill in there? Instead of going out for a walk while the sun is preheating, you just do it all together. Excellent. We’ll probably do that too.
If we can swing it, treadmills a little long. So it depends on like, you know, the actual space. And once we get some things in there, but that brings me to my next point, selecting equipment, we might choose a sauna. That’s a little bit smaller.
Let me show you exactly what I have in mind. You guys are new to the channel. I’m Matt. I’ve been doing this for six or seven years, tested a bunch of health and wellness equipment.
Always trying to bring you the best in product reviews, health and wellness equipment, and good information where you can actually get the benefit that we’ve gotten. I’m thinking we go with the mini sauna. Um, many sauna has a lot of great applications, but just because it’s very narrow and not super deep, uh, it’ll allow us to fit a lot more equipment in a biohacking box or create, you know, some type of biohacking space where it’s demonstrable that you could really fit multiple health and wellness equipment, like genres together.
If you guys haven’t seen our reviews on this sauna, this is a heavenly heat mini. I think they renamed it to the eco. Now, when we first got it, we’re very surprised and it’s probably been five or six months now. What would you say, Aaron?
Has it been six? Okay. It’s been long enough to where I have actual confidence in the performance, the longevity, the reliability. Uh, and we liked it as soon as we took it out of the box, especially somebody who’s in an apartment, a condo, a townhome, a regular size house with maybe one spare bedroom or no spare bedroom at all, if you.
a home office or have a fitness room or something like that it can be really difficult to fit a big sauna in a small space and I recognize we recognize especially from viewer comments that you know this really expensive really large really high powered stuff is sometimes difficult for people to get in their homes so I think one of the themes that we’re going to follow with this biohacking box is to try to make it not only how would you say petite we’re not going to go with all the mac daddy stuff we’re going to go with things that are kind of middle of the road or slightly above you know average we’ve been working on the studio in Maine so we have a gym in the basement and you’re going to see a mac daddy version of a biohacking box in the gym there so if you want to see big saunas really expensive stuff it’ll be in a different series that’s not really the intention of this we have a lot more space to work with there we have a much larger budget and we also have temperature controlled spaces even in winter so it’s very very different than just a corner of a spare bedroom or something like that so this is the sauna that we’re going to use for this version of the biohacking box let’s move on to vibration plate right rebound rebounder and red light therapy all right so we’re in my bathroom this is my vibration plate or one of them this is my preferred vibration plate I like the variability the remote control the frequencies I also like that it’s a single motor there’s a little bit of research supporting like dual motor vibration plates not being in sync with each other can throw off the left and right portions of the body I don’t know if it’s true or not but I like this one we’ve used them for years I’ve got a bunch of people with them friends and family also having good results but I think what we’re going to do is combine red light therapy with vibration plate meaning I’m going to set this up next to the sauna in the biohacking box and we’re going to mount on the wall the red light therapy panel we’ll swap this out with either rebounder or like the user suggestion in the comments treadmill and we’ll see if we can get the most out of our time spent in the box we’re also going to incorporate a wearable technology for this to measure the improvement
and then we’ll test each thing and bring you the results. So let’s go to Red Light Therapy now and pick out a panel to use for this. Alright, so we have a few red light panels to choose from. I think I’m actually going to pick one in the other room which I’ll show you in a minute.
I was going to go with the Gember Red, but Gember Red is stopping or discontinuing the large body panels. So I think we’re going to go with either a Heavenly Heat Max or a Platinum LED. Let’s take a look at the differences between those now. So this is how I usually do my red light therapy.
The problem with this is that it takes up a ton of space. I like to lay down, read a book, or do something else and not stand in front of a door, have to move stuff around. But we’re going to incorporate a mix of this that doesn’t take up so much space into the biohacking box.
We’ll probably go with a Platinum LED or something like we have downstairs with the Heavenly Heat panel, but instead of the small one we’ll do a Heavenly Heat Max panel. And I think that’ll pair well with everything else that we have in the room. And then we won’t have like a giant massage bed that we have to work around.
This can be very cumbersome to fit in spaces and it really serves no other purpose other than this. I love a horizontal stand. It’s my favorite way to do red light therapy, but it’s not conducive to combining this with other, you know, health and wellness products. Maybe instead of a treadmill, Aaron had a great idea, we’ll put the Max Trainer in there.
This is a Bowflex. If I can get it working, I haven’t done a review on this yet because I think this is the biggest pile of **** sold in modern day. You can look at the reviews online. I should have listened to them.
It was dead on arrival. Hasn’t worked. The control panel doesn’t work. The settings don’t work.
Everything. The support process is awful. I don’t think I would ever endorse this product to save my life, but it is absolutely perfect for the biohacking box because it’s very difficult to get this much cardio out of a small stack like this unless you use something like a vertical trainer, which we don’t have the ceiling height for that.
And this is a really good fit. If I can get it working, we’ll throw it in the mix. If I can’t get it working, you’re going to see about five YouTube videos on why you should never buy a Bowflex product ever again. If you haven’t been exposed to preheating the body prior to sauna session before, really the intention is twofold.
One, just get the blood flowing lymphatics moving and to increase the heart rate which makes you sweat quicker so the intention of biohacking box is to combine therapies for a busy schedule we don’t want to take an extra 15 minutes to start sweating regardless of sauna temperature next on the list is a rebounder if you can’t afford a vibration plate or it’s just not for you some people don’t like the intense vibration and think that it’s you know jarring or just not for them you can swap out vibration plate for rebounder the only reason I didn’t start with this even though it is cheaper is because it actually takes up more space like two or three times as much space than a vibration plate so you might be able to swap this out for something like a life pro vibration plate which is a little bit cheaper we’ll talk about the differences between those in the product list and then we’ll have individual reviews on each product but this will still give you increased blood flow and lymphatic activation before your sauna session which is exactly what you need let’s check out the cold punch see if we can incorporate this into our oh yeah that’s definitely not gonna fit buddy I like Aaron’s idea of doing the cold plunge but this is not fitting there’s no way in hell well we could keep it in the home gym I just got to fix up the home gym we had too many saunas in here we got leftover parts this is all I’ve been in Maine doing construction and then doing rental house projects so this hasn’t been top priority but we’re gonna have to figure something else out on this number one just like everyone else we have a space issue number two we’re gonna have a power issue and number three we probably got a little bit of a money issue so I think we figured out that we’re gonna pretty much have to figure something else out for the cold plunge number one we just do not have the space number two it’s not a great fit for the space that we picked out I wouldn’t recommend putting however many gallons of water that is in a closet especially if that could be a flood issue it’s definitely better to be kept in the garage or on a patio or something like that but we have a couple options we could in incorporate cold therapy somehow in the small space
I’ll have to think of a way to make it more affordable. I’ve got an ice helmet that goes in the freezer. We could talk about that. We could also wear the cooling suit.
We could talk about that. It’s not going to be cold plunge, but we’ll figure something out. So for now we’re going to go with mini sauna. I think we’re going to go with the max infrared light panel for red light therapy.
I think we’re going to do one of the two vibration plates or the rebounder. If the rebounder will fit, we’ll have the budget version and the little bit more expensive version. If not, we’ll just have to do another series of this just with budget stuff. We’ll use an even smaller sauna.
We’ll use even smaller everything to try and fit the trampoline in the same space. So with that, I think we’re off and running. We’ll see you in the next one. Tune into the series.
