Sauna Buyer’s Guide: $1k Mini vs $6k Family Sauna (best sizes for home)

Matt Avatar

In this video, I walk you through the real size differences between mini, one-person, two-person, three-person, and even larger four-person saunas so you can get a clear idea of what fits your space, your budget, and your lifestyle.

👉 Here’s what we cover:

Mini Saunas (~$1,000): Great for apartments or starter setups, but with space trade-offs.

One-Person Saunas (~$1,750): Perfect balance of price, size, and heat efficiency for single users.

Two-Person Saunas ($3,000–$4,000): Ideal for couples or anyone who wants extra legroom.

High-End 3-4 Person Family Saunas ($5,000–$6,000): Larger sizes for shared use, long-term investment, and “forever home” builds.

Electrical Considerations: What you need to know if you’re in an apartment, rental, or permanent home.

Price vs. Value: Breaking down what you actually get as you move up in size and budget.

Whether you’re tight on space in a basement or apartment, or planning for your forever home with a big family sauna, this video helps you compare sizes, costs, and electrical needs before you make a purchase.

I can try to show you a difference between the sizes. I tried in that other video, it’s just when you start walking around and stuff, it will track you and follow you, but it’s very difficult to get the zoom to work correctly. So let me make sure the doors are closed and maybe it’ll follow me a little bit.

I don’t think you’re going to be able to see the two-person red light therapy sauna that’s kind of off-camera over here, maybe if I go far enough. But these red light therapy panels are in the way. This is a two-person red light therapy that was 70-something inches. These are the minis that were just in the last video where I kind of get in and out.

I don’t know if it’ll show, I’m not sure if it will crouch zoom for this or not. It might lose me here for a second, but it’ll kind of give you the same idea as the last video, what it’s like when I’m actually in here. I’ll show you the footage from the front side and that’ll give you perspective on just how wide, hello, see, it kind of loses you after a while.

But you can really see the difference when you compare, like that’s a two-person sauna that you can’t see the width of down on the end. These are obviously both mini saunas. And then this is the one-person and pretty much all the one-person saunas are going to be a similar size, similar width.

Yeah, there’s some variances. You have higher end premium saunas like a Clearlight Sanctuary One that is significantly wider than most of the saunas. But the one to two-person thing where they say, you know, maybe it’s one person, maybe you can fit two, you’re not getting two people in any one-person sauna that I’ve ever seen.

So I prefer something like one of these, the Radiant Health E1H, if you’re looking for something that’s more premium. Usually footprint on those is 36 by 36, sometimes 40.

40, sometimes 38 by 40, something like that. You have also other options that can be oblong, like those rectangular ones. You also have things like the Heavenly Heat Eco. Those are really good because if you want high temp, there’s almost nothing on the market that’s small and compact like that, that gets that hot.

So it really just depends what your needs are. Something like this, I think on sale with the Facebook group by discount thing is like 17 something with the discount code. So it’s under 2,000. You’d be much better off with one of those than you would with the Costco sauna, in my opinion.

A lot of people say, oh, you just hate on it because it does this or does that, the EMF’s not any better. Yeah, but it’s 62 degrees in here and I sweat way better in this than I do in the dynamic Costco sauna. And that’s in Florida where it’s like 78 degrees, 76 degrees in an AC house.

So I’ve never gotten out of this thing and had my feet be cold or my bottom half be dry like I have in the Costco sauna. And I get that there’s other Costco saunas that are bigger or three or $4,000 or $2,500 or whatever that have a different heater layout than the one that I have, but this is less money and it works better.

So it’s kind of hard for me to ignore that. These guys are usually 1,000, 1,200, 1,400, 1,500. It depends. Sometimes there’s a discount code from there.

Sometimes there’s a sale, the Heavenly Heat Ecos, all the old videos that were, um, saying, you know, when we had it for $3,400 or $3,500, I think all those prices are gone. You can look on the websites now. They don’t, none of them gatekeep on the pricing anymore. They all show you the price, uh, right up front.

Uh, it’s not like before where you had to enter your name and email and talk to somebody and do all this stuff when we bought them or when I ordered them. That was the way.

was you always had to call and order with a credit card now you can just check out right online which is kind of nice and you can try you know the discount codes and see if it stacks with a sale price depending on the brand it will depending on you know other models or certain times of the year it won’t there’s probably getting to be some sales i know there’s going to be a black friday sale around thanksgiving so watch out for that we will have special discount codes for the facebook group um for all the black friday stuff i don’t know exactly how much of a discount for each model it’s going to be but they do it every single year so whenever those come out i’ll share it with you you can probably save well see here’s the thing the other video that you asked about that spurred me to want to make you know this one for you is when you said you know is it worth it for me to spend three hundred dollars more and get this right versus the mini for me it absolutely is but you have to consider my size my personal preferences what i want uh if you if those aren’t important to you then you can take everything that i say and just throw it out the window right because your situation is different your electrical requirements or your space constraints are going to be different you might be a different size person right if you’re four foot eleven and like 103 pounds and female you’re probably going to love you know one of these right you’re probably going to absolutely love this thing here why let’s see if it’ll focus down for me here because you’re going to fit in here it’s going to heat up so fast you probably won’t even have to preheat it much is it going to be the same build quality as a four thousand dollar heavenly eco or something like that no is it going to have red light output from these that are as much as these panels or this heavenly heat two-person red light therapy sauna no this has a giant max size pbmt panel in it that’s just like

this black one hanging here. I don’t know if the camera will show you these. Let’s see. I don’t think it’ll go that far.

Yeah, it might. So that sauna is going to have a panel in it that’s the size of this. So you can’t expect the same output from, you know, one of these that you’re going to get from these. It’s just not going to happen.

These have a dedicated power supply. They have a heat sink for cooling. There’s a gazillion LEDs on the front. The panel itself is super wide.

I mean, look how wide it is compared to me. This is a max panel for sure. So different strokes for different folks, right? Is any one of these things wrong or bad or whatever?

Absolutely not. But if you have a certain amount of money to spend and you’re in an apartment and you only have so much space to work with and you can’t upgrade electrical that and you’re small, you’re going to love something like this. Is everything perfect? No, but you can’t get everything perfect without paying for it or without you having enough space or electricity to run it or just like all these things.

So there’s going to be better options for some people that aren’t good options for other people. Just like if you’re bigger than I am, you see me, how I struggle to crouch and get in this sucker. Do you think that if you’re six foot seven and I say that I can use this thing and it’s not that bad once I get in, but you’re quite a bit larger than me and you’re 300 pounds, is this an option for you?

No. So you could take, again, everything that I say and throw it out. It comes down to your space requirements, your electrical, just what’s available to you, what’s important to you, what budget do you have? And I take other things into consideration too.

Are you in your forever home? Are you going to be moving? It’s pretty darn easy to move one of these things.

a relatively low investment. You could sell it, buy something else. If you’re moving around a lot, it’s not a huge deal to have a, you know, throw this in a U-Haul and do something with it. Same thing with the one-person, right?

Now, the two-person over there starts to get quite a bit bigger. If you’re looking at a four-person or something like that, now you’re more invested. You have, you know, a dedicated electrical probably run that you paid for. You’ve got a giant sauna that one person can’t just pick up and move even if you disassembled it.

The pieces are too big, too heavy. So you gotta take all these things into account. And just like for the next person, if you’re in your forever home or you’re gonna be there for a few years, or you have disposable income, or you’ve got a home gym in your basement or your garage, or you’ve got, you know, a different situation, the larger sauna that is more expensive to set up, that is more complex to move, that is this, that is that, that’s the right choice for you because you’re gonna enjoy it more, you’re gonna use it more, you’re gonna get the benefit of multi-faceted therapies, and you’re gonna be a lot happier.

And I think, you know, your longevity and health improvement will thank you. So that’s my take on it. If you have other size questions, I know this is kind of weird, I don’t usually do walk-around videos, but if there’s some specific model that you want me to show you the difference of like this, let me know in the group and I’m happy to make a follow-up video for you.
