In this video we’re breaking down how hot the Heavenly Heat hybrid combo unit actually gets, both indoors and in real winter conditions. A lot of folks are curious how these combo units perform compared to a regular infrared sauna or a standard Finnish sauna, so we dig into the real-world numbers and what you can expect in different environments. This is one of the better outdoor-capable infrared setups because it has the power to overcome cold temps without feeling weak or sluggish.
I’ve tested more than 30 saunas over the last seven years and hybrid systems are still one of the most misunderstood categories. The whole point of a hybrid is speed, intensity, and flexibility — not running infrared alone and hoping for miracles. So we talk through heat-up times, what happens below freezing, and why this model performs differently than typical IR boxes you stick on a patio.
If you want an outdoor-ready infrared sauna that still hits strong temps, this will give you a good understanding of what to expect.

Today we’re talking about how hot the heavenly heat combo units get because one of the main questions when people first encounter a combo hybrid sauna. Hello I’m Matt. I’ve tested a sh**load of saunas. You have the heavenly heat combo unit up in Maine right? No it’s in Maine. It’s cold as sh** there. It is cold.
First of all how does it do with ambient temperature being very low and how does it do if it were inside of a normal house like 75 degrees or something like well inside of a normal house I mean it’s going to blow your socks off. There’s just a lot of heat per cubic foot in there. In the cold it depends on how cold you’re talking about. If you’re getting below zero and stuff everything’s going to take a long time to heat up. If you’re talking about something moderate like 50 I mean you have a traditional sauna stove in there and you have all the infrared panels completely surrounding the body. It’s not that much cubic footage. It also has a higher bench in it. Heat up time is pretty good. Feels really strong. Great great option for somebody that’s looking for an outdoor infrared that still packs a punch.
A lot of the infrared saunas you know are only relying on a subpar heater layout without additional heat so if you stick it out in the snow it can kind of suffer. This is basically built to overcome that. How hot do you think realistically without the additional heater on could it get like 150 160? You mean just running the infrared? Yeah just infrared first. Well I mean I don’t know why people do this to be honest with you. My idea of a hybrid combo sauna is to be able to run you know infrared along with traditional sauna dry electric heat. You’re just ramping up the intensity then you’re also making it perform quicker. That’s the whole reason to do it.
So even if you don’t want a sauna that’s you know some crazy 200 degrees that you don’t need you’re going to get there quicker. It’s kind of like having a car that has more power than you actually need. Like you don’t need to go 200 miles an hour but it would be nice to be able to get to 70 like with the snap of fingers type of thing. So how hot do I think it would get if you were just running the infrared? Yeah I don’t know probably 150 155 maybe. Now it may be it may get there a little slower because it’s bigger you know it’s taller it’s definitely wider like it’s a big sauna for a two-person model.
That said if you it’s designed to go to 170 180 degrees you could push that heat limit by extending the time if you’d like but I mean it’s going to get to finish sauna temperatures in a reasonable amount of time as long as you’re not sticking it in like negative 15 below zero fahrenheit. If you do stuff like that you know it can be hard to combat you know those heat up times. Who in their right mind would put a sauna in those conditions? Well we haven’t tried it yet but we’re going to. I didn’t have it when we had deep deep snow so we’re going to set it up and try and see how it does all winter long. So this time next year we should have a lot better reports. I don’t want to I don’t want to guess you know we want to actually do it for ourselves and then go from there because there’s a lot of hearsay on the internet so let’s get down to some actual business.
I mean it’s going to smash 180 for sure. 200 just depends on how long I mean how long are you talking. If you if you fired up a wood-fired finish sauna in the snow I mean it’s going to be two hours before it gets to temperature. Before you heat up the steel the mass in the walls in order for the heat to actually circulate and accumulate. I’m not really interested in having that type of experience so I if that would be the hybrid I don’t think I would like it that much. So it’s got to perform well in general conditions. I mean like I said you can’t pick a day where it’s 30 below zero and be like it won’t get hot. Well no kidding you go outside without your coat on you’re going to get frostbite too.
So some people whine and complain and say oh well you’re not getting as much humidity you can’t build as much lolly. For those people I would say you know go buy a wood-burning sauna. Stick it outside. And for the folks that immediately say well I can’t because I’m in the city. Well that’s why we’re in this thing you know that’s why we’re in this predicament. That’s why we kind of like the hybrid combo. It’s a good blend of well Matt it doesn’t have this and it doesn’t well okay go chop firewood then. You should probably buy one of these.
