Can You Tell Which Sauna Is Worth $5,000? (Side-by-Side Comparison)

Description

We took Tested two Saunas for months, one that costs around $1,700 and another that runs close to $5,000 and put them to the test. On the surface, they look similar. But when you dig into the build quality, it’s a whole different story.

In this video, I’ll show you how construction, components, and overall feel can totally change your experience. We’re modifying these units for our DIY course, and honestly, the deeper we dig, the more we uncover. If you’ve ever wondered whether those higher-priced saunas are really worth it… this should help.

Today, I’m going to be showing you two saunas. One that’s $1,700 to $2,000, and one that’s $4,000 to $5,000. You tell me if you can see a difference in the build quality. We’re modifying saunas for some of our course material, for some of our books.

We’re taking them apart. We’re adding exercise bikes. We’re doing things to get people’s blood flow moving and stuff like that. And when you really find out how well a sauna is built is when you start taking it apart.

You see the way they constructed it. You see the attention to detail, or the lack thereof. You see all the little components and the connectors and things that affect the longevity of the sauna. Stuff that you’re not going to see if you just look at pictures online like you mentioned, right?

A lot of companies have AutoCAD drawings of their saunas. You actually can’t tell what they really look like. But when you start taking these things apart and you start modifying them and you see the construction and how well it’s crafted and how there’s backing and things behind the heaters to improve the longevity and the strength of the walls and the way that they’re built.

When you go to a sauna that’s not made well, you can instantly tell. There’s things that stand out when you get inside these things. We can tell because we’re doing unboxing videos, review videos. We’re moving them around, reassembling them, assembling them, seeing how well they hold up to that kind of treatment.

A lot of times you don’t really get a sense of build quality unless you’re doing things like that. Especially not just looking at them online or a brochure on the website. So I think everyone who’s touched these, including Aaron, we realize right away when we take it out of the box that the wall construction is definitely heavy duty.

The slats and the way that things are built, definitely better longevity. The glass is thicker, higher quality. Hinge mounts, higher quality.

quality door mounts, higher quality. I don’t want you to, I don’t want to show you a picture of the control panel necessarily because it has the branding on it. We’re not trying to make this one brand versus another because you could take any two saunas and different price categories out there and find differences, but they’re going to be different between, you know, which brand it is.

But if you come up here, the control panel itself, right? The control panel itself, way better layout. It doesn’t move around. It’s mounted in the wall securely.

It has actual buttons, you know, that makes sense. It works a lot better. It’s backlit. You know what I mean?

Like it’s an actual almost LCD screen, but it’s not an LCD screen. Little details like this, the lights, right? Super, super, super cheap lights, right? In a lot of the, the sauna brands or sauna models, the actual heater quality.

When we look at these heaters on a Fleer gun, this is not a woven coil that makes up a flat carbon panel, right? So heat consistency. Um, I wouldn’t necessarily say the wood type, but the quality of the wood selected makes a huge difference. So when it’s nice and the sanding is above average, there’s no splintering, right?

It’s almost like a safety thing. If you catch a corner or something, you’re never going to get a splinter in some of these, whereas in other ones you definitely can. So now that we’ve shown you this one, let’s move over to another one and let’s see if you can tell just from a picture or video what’s actually the quality one and which one is lesser or greater quality.

Because a lot of times you can’t. So here’s the other sauna. And while they might look super similar from the outside under the hood tells a very different story, right? And I don’t even know.

I want you to be the judge. Can you even tell from the video, from the pictures? Uh, there’s, there’s stuff in here. It seems fine on the surface, but longevity wise, building quality wise, there’s a huge, huge difference.

You’re going to have pieces, you know, that just don’t stand up to

the test of time, the fit and finish, the build quality itself. I mean you can tell this is straight from the factory. I don’t know what this is all about. It takes just an extra two seconds to line these up straight before you glue them or nail them in.

The overall, you know, quality of the components in here, like if you look at the lighting and stuff that’s available in this, no comparison. I know that’s not a big deal to some people, but when you can use this thing every day and you get a real sense for what it is, there is an element of, you know, build quality.

I don’t know if you guys can hear that, but I mean the whole thing shakes. This is super, super light. If you come in here, I’ll cover up the branding on the sauna, but small details like not adding glue or some type of support or something to the matte finish, right?

Like just the components that are used in here. To me, this is just my opinion, maybe not everybody agrees, there’s a huge difference in fit and finish. Glass, right? Like most of the other ones don’t flex.

The hinge mounts are different. Sometimes things like this don’t matter to people, but to me when I’m using it every single day, it’s kind of the difference between a $20,000 car and a $60,000 car. Of course they don’t perform the same, right? But can you tell the difference?

Let’s close the door so you get a real picture of what this looks like. But I mean, look at this thing. Overlay a picture of the other one on the screen because to me from the outside, the fit and finish, the framing, the design, and I understand a lot of, you know, just like houses, a lot of people share the same design.

So maybe it has the same trimmed out face or maybe it has this or maybe it has the same door handle or the catch or the hinge or whatever, but the actual quality of when you use it, I’m not sure if you can even tell from the pictures or even this video.

And that’s kind of the whole point of some of the reviews.

Like, it’s a feel, it’s a quality. When we literally pick the pieces up and grab them out of the box, we can tell based on using it and doing the unboxing and the assembly and all this stuff. I don’t get that from seeing pictures or videos online. I don’t expect you to either.

But it’s little things too that matter. Like when I check this thing and I see eighth inch or quarter inch MDF, whatever it is, as the roof panel, you know, I have to question, well, if they’re using that for a supplemental roof structure, what’s inside the walls? Why do they feel paper thin?

Why can I carry one of the walls with just two fingers? Whereas another brand, you know, it’s all I can do to carry a wall panel by myself. So the contrast doesn’t come through in the photos. And you tell me, can you tell a difference between these?

Because there’s a difference in the sweat. There’s a difference in the performance. There’s a difference in the way that they feel. There’s a difference in the heat up time.

There’s a difference in the quality. Like when I literally am inside one and I go to lean up against the wall, the support that I have, the way that the thing is built, it comes through in the actual user experience. But can you tell from the pictures and videos online?

And that’s why we actually test each and every sauna ourselves. We don’t take someone’s word for it. We don’t go buy some Amazon reviews that these companies are buying. We check it ourselves each and every time.

We sit in it, we use it, we unbox it, we assemble it, we make videos about it. And that helps us decipher not taking someone’s word for it on the internet.
